There is one topic I would like to cover in this issue of the newsletter. But first, something which is taking over all the conversations and is affecting everyone.
I am aware that this is not the best place for you to read about the invasion of Ukraine. There are also way better sources covering the conflict and I am sure you are getting all the verified news from different media outlets. What I would like to do, is to signal boost few initiatives where you can contribute and help.
This is a good starting point, Necrosofty created an amazing bundle on Itch.io and lovely people over at DevGamm are running this initiative right here helping game developers.
Thank you to everyone who helped, is helping, or planning initiatives to help in the near future.
There is no place for hatred, cruelty, nor for war in today’s world.
Last year, I made a promise to return to a survey trying to understand how we were and are still attending events during the pandemic. Even though the discourse has changed, and journalist are asking if the pandemic is over, restrictions are still in place, and you must follow procedures when entering certain countries.
This time I tend to keep the survey running for longer to acquire higher sample rate to see what the current preferences and trends are while inquiring where do you see the future of events.
To give you an example. Last year we have learned that groups are very selective where to go and which event to attend to. This was affected by Covid-19 concerns and harsher restrictions in place. More than half of the participants (out of 300) were planning to reduce the number of events tied to the zoom fatigue. Also, respondents in 2021 were very eager to attend events for networking purposes (70%), and they have identified making friends and business as primary drivers to attend events.
Of course, since last year a lot has changed and by how much I am tring to find out with the new survey.
Again, I would like to invite you all to participate in the survey exploring our habits, how we are attending events during pandemic, how were they affected by restrictions and if they will change once travelling and social gatherings are widely available.
The survey should take you about 5 minutes to answer all questions. It is completely anonymous, and the results will be published publicly for anyone to go through them on the Game Conference Guide monthly newsletter.
Please help to share the survey with colleagues, peers, friends, and developers. The more submissions, the clearer picture we would see how the future of events will look like.

It needs different spices - a successful event requires not only a good framework, but also professionalism, vision, and experience from its creators.
